Writing the Book I Never Thought I Would

I never thought I’d be an author.

If someone had told me a few years ago that I’d be sitting down to write a book, I would have brushed it off without a second thought. Being a writer was never on my radar. I wasn’t one of those people who dreamed of writing stories or publishing something with my name on the cover. That wasn’t part of my plan. But somewhere along the way, God stepped in and showed me that His plan was different.

The book I’m working on is called "Jobs Not Finished." The title is more than a phrase. It’s a reflection of a mindset, a way of life, and honestly, a reminder to myself. The job isn’t finished. Not in my life, not in my journey, and not with this book. And truth be told, writing this book has become one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

When I started this process, I thought it would be pretty straightforward. Write some chapters. Share some stories. Drop some lessons I’ve learned from life, leadership, and growth. But I quickly realized it was going to take much more than that. Writing this book has stretched me in ways I didn’t expect. It’s tested my discipline, challenged my patience, and exposed parts of myself I didn’t even know I had buried.

There have been days I stared at a blank page for hours, unsure of what to say. There were nights I couldn’t sleep, replaying memories I was trying to turn into meaning. And there were weeks when I didn’t write a single word because I felt like I wasn’t good enough to tell this story. I’ve questioned myself more times than I can count. I’ve asked, “Why me?” and “What if it’s not good enough?” more than I’d like to admit.

But through it all, God kept reminding me of why I started. He kept showing me that this isn’t just about writing a book. It’s about obedience. It’s about walking in purpose. It’s about using my voice, even when it shakes.

One scripture that’s carried me through this process is Philippians 1:6, which says: “Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

That verse speaks directly to my spirit. It reminds me that I’m not doing this alone. That even when I feel stuck, even when the words won’t come, even when doubt creeps in, God is still working. He started this work in me for a reason, and He’s not going to leave it unfinished. That includes the book, but it also includes me.

"Jobs Not Finished" is more than a title. It’s a declaration. It’s me saying I’m still becoming, still growing, still learning, and still pressing forward. It’s me admitting that while the book isn’t done yet, neither am I. And that’s okay.

So if you’re reading this and you’ve got something on your heart, a dream, a vision, a calling, you’ve been sitting on, I want to encourage you. Don’t give up just because it’s hard. Don’t walk away just because it’s taking longer than you thought. God doesn’t call us to ease. He calls us to faith. And if He started something in you, He will finish it.

Trust the process. Keep writing your story. The job's not finished.
